One word of caution with studded bike tires. Don't think you are Superman with them or you will fly off your bike like Superman (voice of experience talking!). It is an added bonus on snow/ice though!

It's my new-to-me Gazelle that I was thinking of putting studded tires on. A fellow returning to the Netherlands (where he got it; you can't get 'em this side of the planet) was in the bike shop asking for advice on selling it... it is very nice on horribly rainy days. With studded tires it could work on snowy ones... but it's been in the 40's and 50's all week so I'm thinking I might not need 'em...
